Green Buildings in China: Breaking the Barriers

The past few years have seen significant growth in green buildings in China as owners seek to save on energy and become industry leaders. Still, most green buildings in the country today are demonstration projects and government buildings.

China’s Three-Star certification program is an integral part of the national Green Building Evaluation Standard (GBES), which sets the country’s official green building definition. However, there are dozens of other provincial, city, project-based and international definitions and standards in play in addition to the international green building standards such as the US GBC’s LEED standards and others.
